Copper Prices Up! SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: March 24-28, 2025

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries. 

China - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), copper scrap prices in China exhibited a slight upward trend overall, with prices initially rising and then falling, showing no significant fluctuations. The price increase ranged between 0.10% and 0.14%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), the price movements were consistent with this week’s changes. 

Motor Copper experienced a relatively large fluctuation this week, with the highest daily increase of 0.84% (March 26). Fire Line followed closely, with the second highest daily increase of 0.83% (March 26). 

Brass (Cu≈65%) and Brass (Cu≈62%) had the smallest fluctuations, both showing a price increase of 0.10% this week.

China - Aluminum Scrap Prices 

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in China showed some fluctuations. Except for a slight increase in Packing Cans prices and stable prices for 6 Series Aluminum Chips, other aluminum scrap materials experienced a slight decline, with the decrease ranging from 0.14% to 0.29%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), the declines were larger, ranging from 0.75% to 1.15%. 

Only the price of Packing Cans increased this week, rising slightly from 15,950 CNY/MT (March 24) to 16,000 CNY/MT (March 28), an increase of 0.31%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), Iron Free Mechanical Aluminum saw the largest decrease, falling from 17,450 CNY/MT (March 21) to 17,250 CNY/MT (March 28), a drop of 1.15%.

India - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), copper scrap prices in India exhibited minimal fluctuations. Except for unchanged prices for Brass Hunny Scrap and a slight decline in Brass prices, other copper scrap materials showed an increase, with the price rise ranging between 0.09% and 0.71%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), the price trends differed, with some materials increasing and others experiencing a slight decrease. 

Copper Heavy had the largest increase this week, rising slightly from 850 INR/kg (March 24) to 856 INR/kg (March 28), an increase of 0.71%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), No.1 Copper had the largest increase of 1.07%, while Brass Utensil experienced the largest decrease of 0.53%.

India - Aluminum Scrap Prices 

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in India showed minimal fluctuations. Except for a slight increase in No.2 Aluminum prices, other aluminum scrap materials experienced a decline, with the drop ranging from 0.53% to 1.45%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), the price trend remained consistent with this week, but the magnitude of the changes was greater. 

Aluminium Utensils Scrap saw the largest decline, falling from 207 INR/kg (March 24) to 204 INR/kg (March 28), a decrease of 1.45%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), No.2 Aluminum rose from 168.14 INR/kg (March 21) to 171.1 INR/kg (March 28), an increase of 1.76%.

United Kingdom - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), copper scrap prices in the United Kingdom followed an upward trend, with all copper scrap prices rising after March 25 and maintaining stability until March 28. The increase ranged from 1.63% to 4.21%, marking the third consecutive week of rising copper scrap prices. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), the price movement was consistent with this week’s changes. 

Braziery/Copper Cylinders saw the largest increase, rising from 4.75 GBP/kg (March 24) to 4.95 GBP/kg (March 28), an increase of 4.21%. 

Next was Heavy Copper, which rose from 5.75 GBP/kg (March 24) to 5.9 GBP/kg (March 28), an increase of 2.61%.

United States - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), copper scrap prices in the United States showed a slight upward trend, with minimal fluctuations. The increase ranged from 0.27% to 0.48%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), prices remained stable with no significant changes. 

Copper No.1 saw the largest increase, rising from 4.2 USD/Lb (March 24) to 4.22 USD/Lb (March 28), an increase of 0.48%. 

Next was Brass, which rose from 2.3 USD/Lb (March 24) to 2.31 USD/Lb (March 28), an increase of 0.43%.

United States - Aluminum Scrap Prices 

This week (March 24 to March 28, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in the United States exhibited a slight upward trend, with fluctuations in prices ranging from 0.54% to 3.33%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 21), prices remained stable with no major changes. 

Aluminum Wire saw the largest increase, rising from 0.6 USD/Lb (March 24) to 0.62 USD/Lb (March 28), an increase of 3.33%. 

Next was AL Sheet and Cast Alum, both of which saw consistent price increases, rising from 0.75 USD/Lb (March 24) to 0.77 USD/Lb (March 28), an increase of 2.67%.
