Aluminum Prices Slid! SUNSHINE Weekly Metal Prices Tracker: March 31-April 4, 2025

This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from the China, India, UK, and US Exchanges on the SUNSHINE, the following is a report on Copper, Aluminum, Gold, and Silver prices. 

Copper Prices 

This week, copper prices in various countries showed a downward trend, with significant declines observed in the United States, India, and the United Kingdom, particularly accelerating on April 4. The Chinese exchange was closed on April 4, resulting in a relatively small decline this week.

China: Copper prices in China saw a slight decline this week, initially rising slightly before gradually falling. The overall price dropped from 79,950 CNY/MT (March 31) to 78,880 CNY/MT (April 3), a decrease of 1.34%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the trend was downward with a decrease of 1.94%. 

India: Copper prices in India experienced a sharp decline this week, with a slight increase in the first two days followed by continuous drops, reaching a daily decrease of 7.09% (April 4). Overall, the price dropped from 891.35 INR/kg (March 31) to 804.8 INR/kg (April 4), a decrease of 9.71%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was 9.43%. 

United Kingdom: Copper prices in the UK saw a significant drop this week, particularly on April 4, when prices fell to 8,780 USD/MT, reflecting strong downward pressure. The overall price dropped from 9,710 USD/MT (March 31) to 8,780 USD/MT (April 4), a decrease of 9.58%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was even greater at 10.36%. 

United States: Copper prices in the US accelerated their decline this week, with a daily decrease of 9.15% (April 4). The overall price dropped from 5.036 USD/Lb (March 31) to 4.356 USD/Lb (April 4), a decrease of 13.50%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was larger at 14.49%. 

Aluminum Prices 

Aluminum prices in various countries showed a downward trend this week, with the United States experiencing the largest drop of 9.18%. Chinese aluminum prices remained relatively stable, with a slight decrease of only 0.12%.

China: Aluminum prices in China showed a slight decline this week with minimal fluctuations, dropping from 20,520 CNY/MT (March 31) to 20,495 CNY/MT (April 3), a decrease of 0.12%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the price showed a slight decline of 0.41%. 

India: Aluminum prices in India continued to decrease rapidly this week, with a daily drop of up to 2.62% (April 4). Overall, the price dropped from 246.3 INR/kg (March 31) to 232.2 INR/kg (April 4), a decrease of 5.72%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was larger at 7.53%. 

United Kingdom: Aluminum prices in the UK continued to fall this week, with a daily drop of up to 2.84% (April 4). The overall price dropped from 2,533 USD/MT (March 31) to 2,378.5 USD/MT (April 4), a decrease of 6.10%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the price showed a downward trend with a decline of 6.63%. 

United States: Aluminum prices in the US saw a significant drop this week, accelerating downward with a daily drop of 4.01% (April 4). The price dropped from 2,425.75 USD/Lb (March 31) to 2,203 USD/Lb (April 4), a decrease of 9.18%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was larger at 10.26%. 

Gold Prices 

Gold prices varied across countries this week, with China showing a slight increase, while India and the United States experienced a certain level of decline. 

China: Gold prices in China showed slight fluctuations this week but overall trended upwards, rising from 729.16 CNY/g (March 31) to 738.4 CNY/g (April 3), an increase of 1.27%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the increase was larger at 2.39%. 

India: Gold prices in India showed a downward trend this week, with a significant drop of 2.20% on April 4. The overall price dropped from 9,012 INR/g (March 31) to 8,807.5 INR/g (April 4), a decrease of 2.27%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was minor, at 0.82%. 

United States: Gold prices in the US fluctuated this week, with a daily increase of up to 1.34% (April 2) and a daily drop of 2.47% (April 4). The price dropped from 3,130.9 USD/oz t (March 31) to 3,035.6 USD/oz t (April 4), a decrease of 3.04%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was 1.76%. 

Silver Prices 

Silver prices across countries generally showed a downward trend this week, with the most significant declines in the United States and India, particularly accelerating on April 3 and April 4. China’s silver prices remained relatively stable with a smaller decline.

China: Silver prices in China continued to decline this week, though the drop was small, from 8,483 CNY/kg (March 31) to 8,282 CNY/kg (April 3), a decrease of 2.37%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was 2.42%. 

India: Silver prices in India showed a downward trend this week, with a slight increase of 0.29% on April 2, followed by a sharp decline. The price dropped from 100,065 INR/kg (March 31) to 87,211 INR/kg (April 4), a decrease of 12.85%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was 13.19%. 

United States: Silver prices in the US initially showed a slight increase before accelerating downward, with a daily drop of 9.27% (April 3). The overall price dropped from 34.48 USD/oz t (March 31) to 29.515 USD/oz t (April 4), a decrease of 14.40%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was 15.05%.
