Copper Prices Slid! SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: March 31-April 4, 2025
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries.
China - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), copper scrap prices in China showed an overall downward trend, remaining stable for the first three days before declining on April 3, with price drops ranging from 0.49% to 0.63%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decrease was more significant, ranging from 0.77% to 1.05%.
This week, Motor Copper and Fire Line experienced the largest price drops of 0.63%. Motor Copper prices decreased slightly from 71,350 CNY/MT (March 31) to 70,900 CNY/MT (April 3), a 0.63% drop. Fire Line prices also fell from 71,850 CNY/MT (March 31) to 71,400 CNY/MT (April 3), marking a 0.63% decrease.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), Motor Copper saw the largest decline, dropping by 1.05%, followed closely by Fire Line, which dropped by 1.04%.

China - Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in China remained stable with no increases or decreases. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), with the exception of 6 Series Aluminum Chips, all other aluminum scrap prices showed minor decreases, ranging from 0.27% to 1.56%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), Packing Cans saw the largest drop, from 16,000 CNY/MT (March 28) to 15,750 CNY/MT (April 3), a decrease of 1.56%.
Profile Raw Material followed closely, with a slight drop from 15,900 CNY/MT (March 28) to 15,850 CNY/MT (April 3), a 0.31% decrease.

India - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), copper scrap prices in India generally declined, with a sharp drop on April 4, the highest being a 9.75% decline in a single day. Only Brass Hunny Scrap prices remained stable. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the prices showed a downward trend, ranging from 0.17% to 9.91%.
No.2 Copper experienced the largest drop this week, falling from 557 INR/kg (March 31) to 509 INR/kg (April 4), a decrease of 8.62%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), No.2 Copper experienced the largest drop, No.1 Copper followed closely, dropping from 694.45 INR/kg (March 28) to 638.5 INR/kg (April 4), a decrease of 8.06%.

India - Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in India showed mixed trends. No.1 Aluminum and No.2 Aluminum prices increased slightly, while other aluminum scrap prices experienced moderate declines, ranging from 1.07% to 2.48%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the trends remained consistent.
No.1 Aluminum and No.2 Aluminum saw slight increases of 0.99% and 0.06% this week. Aluminum Wire Scrap had the largest decline, dropping by 2.48%, followed by Aluminum Utensils Scrap, which fell by 2.45%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), Aluminum Wire Scrap saw the largest decrease, from 243 INR/kg (March 28) to 236 INR/kg (April 4), a drop of 2.88%.

United Kingdom - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), copper scrap prices in the United Kingdom experienced a broad decline, with drops ranging from 6.45% to 9.38%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the decline was even more pronounced, ranging from 8.66% to 12.12%.
Braziery/Copper Cylinders saw the largest drop this week, from 4.8 GBP/kg (March 31) to 4.35 GBP/kg (April 4), a decline of 9.38%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), Braziery/Copper Cylinders saw the largest drop, Heavy Copper followed closely, with a decrease from 5.9 GBP/kg (March 28) to 5.35 GBP/kg (April 4), a 9.32% drop.

United States - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), copper scrap prices in the United States showed a significant downward trend, with copper prices falling much more than brass. On April 4, there was a sharp decline across the board, with price drops ranging from 13.04% to 20.55%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the changes were similar, with declines ranging from 13.42% to 20.77%.
No.2 Copper experienced the largest drop this week, from 3.65 USD/Lb (March 31) to 2.9 USD/Lb (April 4), a decrease of 20.55%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), No.2 Copper experienced the largest drop, No.1 Copper followed closely, from 4.22 USD/Lb (March 28) to 3.4 USD/Lb (April 4), a drop of 19.43%.

United States - Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (March 31 to April 4, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in the United States showed a large drop only for Aluminum Copper Unit, which decreased by 8.11%. Prices for other aluminum scraps remained stable. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), the trend showed a downward movement, with declines ranging from 2.30% to 8.60%.
Only Aluminum Copper Unit saw a significant drop this week, from 1.85 USD/Lb (March 31) to 1.7 USD/Lb (April 4), a decrease of 8.11%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 28), Aluminum Copper Unit saw the largest drop, The next largest drop was for Aluminum Wire, which fell by 3.23%.
