SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: February 24-28, 2025
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries.
China – Copper Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), copper scrap prices in China experienced a slight decline. The price fluctuations were minor, and most material prices remained relatively stable, though a slight downward trend was observed, with overall decreases ranging between 0.2% and 0.3%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), copper scrap prices showed varying degrees of decline, with a general decrease between 0.2% and 0.6%.
This week, Copper (Cu≈98%), Motor Copper, and Fire Line saw the largest declines, each at 0.29%. Brass (Cu≈65%) and Brass (Cu≈62%) had the smallest decreases, at 0.20%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), Motor Copper and Fire Line had the largest price drops, both showing a decrease of 0.58%.

China – Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in China exhibited a slight upward trend, with some scrap prices remaining unchanged and others increasing by between 0.14% and 0.28%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), however, there was an overall downward trend in aluminum scrap prices, with some prices dropping between 0.94% and 1.24%, while other prices remained unchanged.
This week, 1 Series Aluminum Scrap had the largest increase, rising from 18,075 CNY/MT (February 24) to 18,125 CNY/MT (February 28), an increase of 0.28%. Prices for Profile Spray Coating, Profile Raw Material, Aluminum Profiles, 6 Series Aluminum Chips, Used Steam Turbine, Iron-Free Mechanical Aluminum, and Packing Cans remained stable.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), prices for materials like Profile Spray Coating, Profile Raw Material, and Aluminum Profiles saw a decrease of more than 1%.

India – Copper Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), the copper scrap market in India showed slight fluctuations, with most copper scrap prices remaining relatively stable and only a few showing minor changes. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), copper scrap prices showed a slight decline, with most material prices decreasing by between 0.05% and 0.85%.
This week, No.1 Copper, Brass Hunny Scrap, and Brass Utensil saw price increases, with Brass Hunny Scrap showing the largest rise, increasing from 561 INR/kg (February 24) to 566 INR/kg (February 28), an increase of 0.89%. Only Brass saw a price drop, falling from 465.5 INR/kg (February 24) to 462.5 INR/kg (February 28), a decrease of 0.65%. Other scrap prices remained unchanged.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), Brass Sheet Cutting had the largest drop, decreasing from 585 INR/kg (February 21) to 580 INR/kg (February 28), a decline of 0.85%. Brass Hunny Scrap was the only material to increase, rising from 561 INR/kg (February 21) to 566 INR/kg (February 28), a rise of 0.89%.

India – Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), the aluminum scrap market in India remained stable, with most scrap prices holding steady, while only Aluminum Accessories Scrap showed a slight increase. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), the Indian aluminum scrap market experienced a slight upward trend, with increases ranging from 0.63% to 1.12%.
Aluminum Accessories Scrap saw a price increase this week, rising from 178 INR/kg (February 24) to 180 INR/kg (February 28), an increase of 1.12%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), No.1 Aluminum was the only material to show a slight decline, falling from 164.32 INR/kg (February 21) to 164.31 INR/kg (February 28), a decrease of 0.01%.

United Kingdom– Copper Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), copper scrap prices in United Kingdom generally increased, with price increases ranging from 0.83% to 2.17%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), the price changes followed the same trend, with increases between 0.83% and 2.17%.
The largest increase was seen in Braziery/Copper Cylinders, which rose from 4.60 GBP/kg (February 24) to 4.70 GBP/kg (February 28), an increase of 2.17%.
Heavy Copper followed, with the price rising from 5.60 GBP/kg (February 24) to 5.70 GBP/kg (February 28), an increase of 1.79%.

United Kingdom – Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), the aluminum scrap market in United Kingdom remained stable, with all scrap prices remaining unchanged. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), aluminum scrap prices showed no change, and the market remained steady.
United States – Copper Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), the copper scrap market in United States showed a general downward trend, with price decreases ranging from 2.5% to 3.08%, and only Brass prices showed a slight increase. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), United States copper scrap market experienced widespread price declines, with decreases ranging from 0.45% to 3.67%.
Sheet Copper saw the largest decrease, falling from 3.25 USD/Lb (February 24) to 3.15 USD/Lb (February 28), a decrease of 3.08%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), Brass had the smallest decline, dropping from 2.21 USD/Lb (February 21) to 2.20 USD/Lb, a decrease of 0.45%. Copper No.1, Copper No.2, and Sheet Copper saw more significant drops, ranging from 2.98% to 3.67%.

United States – Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (February 24 to February 28, 2025), the aluminum scrap market in United States showed a downward trend, with price decreases ranging from 2.86% to 3.85%. Only Aluminum Copper Unit prices showed a slight increase. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 21), there were no changes in aluminum scrap prices this week.
The largest price declines were seen in AL Sheet and Cast Alum, with both falling from 0.52 USD/Lb (February 24) to 0.50 USD/Lb (February 28), a decrease of 3.85%.
