Aluminum Prices Rise! SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: April 14-18, 2025

This week (April 14 to April 18, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries. 

China - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (April 14-18, 2025), copper scrap prices in China fluctuated. Except for Motor Copper and Fire Line, which saw price increases of 3.24% and 3.11%, respectively, other copper scrap prices remained stable after some fluctuations. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), all copper scrap prices increased, with a rise between 2.04% and 3.24%. 

Motor Copper saw the largest increase, rising from 64,800 CNY/MT (April 14) to 66,900 CNY/MT (April 18), marking a 3.24% increase. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), besides Motor Copper and Fire Line, Copper (Cu≈98%) showed the next largest increase, rising from 67,800 CNY/MT (April 11) to 69,900 CNY/MT (April 18), a 3.10% rise.

China - Aluminum Scrap Prices 

This week (April 14-18, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in China saw minimal fluctuations, with a slight overall increase of 0.28% to 0.99%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), prices increased by 1.16% to 1.66%. 

The largest increase was seen in Packing Cans, which rose from 15,200 CNY/MT (April 14) to 15,350 CNY/MT (April 18), a 0.99% increase. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), Packing Cans saw the largest rise, followed by Raw Aluminum, which increased from 16,000 CNY/MT (April 11) to 16,225 CNY/MT (April 18), marking a 1.41% increase.

India - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (April 14-18, 2025), copper scrap prices in India varied. Copper Utensil and Brass Sheet Cutting saw slight increases, while Copper Heavy and Brass Utensil prices remained stable. Other copper scrap prices declined by 0.12% to 1.25%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), all copper scrap prices, except Brass, which saw a slight decline, increased by 0.88% to 3.68%. 

Copper Utensil had the largest increase, rising by 0.81%, while Copper Wire Scrap experienced the largest decline, falling by 1.25%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), Copper Wire Scrap saw the largest rise, increasing from 760 INR/kg (April 11) to 788 INR/kg (April 18), a 3.68% increase.

India - Aluminum Scrap Prices 

This week (April 14-18, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in India showed mixed trends. No.1 Aluminum and Aluminium Wire Scrap saw a slight decline, while other aluminum scrap prices increased by 1.01% to 2.20%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), No.1 Aluminum prices remained stable, while other aluminum scrap prices rose by 0.58% to 3.33%. 

Aluminium Wire Scrap declined from 231 INR/kg (April 14) to 230 INR/kg (April 18), a drop of 0.43%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), Aluminium Accessories Scrap had the largest increase, rising from 180 INR/kg (April 11) to 186 INR/kg (April 18), a 3.33% increase.

United Kingdom - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (April 14-18, 2025), copper scrap prices in the UK remained relatively stable, with only one price drop on April 16, ranging from 2.83% to 3.54%, after which prices remained steady. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), the price changes followed the same trend as this week. 

Clean Copper Tube saw the largest decline, falling from 5.65 GBP/kg (April 14) to 5.45 GBP/kg (April 18), a decrease of 3.54%. 

Next was Braziery/Copper Cylinders, which decreased from 4.30 GBP/kg (April 14) to 4.15 GBP/kg (April 18), a 3.49% decline.

United States - Copper Scrap Prices 

This week (April 14-18, 2025), copper scrap prices in the US showed an overall upward trend. Brass saw a slight increase of 0.48%, while other copper scrap prices rose by 3.33% to 5.88%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), Brass prices increased by 4.98%, and other copper scrap prices saw increases ranging from 12.50% to 15.69%. 

Copper No.1 had the largest increase, rising from 3.4 USD/Lb (April 14) to 3.6 USD/Lb (April 18), a 5.88% increase. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), Sheet Copper saw the largest increase, rising from 2.55 USD/Lb (April 11) to 2.95 USD/Lb (April 18), a 15.69% increase.

United States - Aluminum Scrap Prices 

This week (April 14-18, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in the US showed an overall upward trend, with some fluctuations. The price increase ranged from 0.61% to 3.33%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), aluminum scrap prices varied. Aluminum Copper Unit saw a decline, AL Extrusion had a slight increase, while other aluminum scrap prices remained stable. 

Aluminum Wire saw the largest increase, rising from 0.60 USD/Lb (April 14) to 0.62 USD/Lb (April 18), a 3.33% rise. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 11), Aluminum Copper Unit saw a decrease, falling from 1.71 USD/Lb (April 11) to 1.66 USD/Lb (April 18), a drop of 2.92%.
