Copper Prices Declined! SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: April 7-11, 2025
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries.
China - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), copper scrap prices in China generally showed a trend of first declining and then recovering, with a notable rebound on April 10. Except for Motor Copper, which saw a decrease, other copper scrap prices saw slight increases. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 3), all copper scrap prices showed a downward trend, mainly experiencing a significant drop on April 7, with declines ranging from 4.49% to 8.60%.
The largest increase this week was seen in Fire Line, which fell from 66,250 CNY/MT (April 7) to 65,800 CNY/MT (April 9), then rebounded to 67,900 CNY/MT (April 10), before slightly retreating to 67,600 CNY/MT (April 11), marking a weekly increase of 2.04%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 3), the largest decrease was observed in Motor Copper, which dropped by 8.60%, from 70,900 CNY/MT (April 3) to 63,000 CNY/MT (April 9), then rebounded to 65,100 CNY/MT (April 10), before slightly retreating to 64,800 CNY/MT (April 11).

China - Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in China generally exhibited a pattern of first declining, then recovering, followed by a slight decline, with significant volatility. The decrease in aluminum scrap prices ranged from 1.16% to 1.95%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 3), the decrease was more pronounced, ranging from 1.16% to 5.05%. Except for the stable price of 6 Series Aluminum Chips, other aluminum scrap prices saw declines on April 7, with decreases ranging from 2.86% to 3.56%.
The largest decline this week was observed in Profile Raw Material, which fell from 15,350 CNY/MT (April 7) to 15,025 CNY/MT (April 9), then recovered to 15,300 CNY/MT (April 10), before dropping again to 15,050 CNY/MT (April 11), with a total decrease of 1.95%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 3), the largest decrease was in Profile Raw Material, followed by Raw Aluminum, which decreased from 16,850 CNY/MT (April 3) to 16,000 CNY/MT (April 11), with a decline of 5.04%.

India - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), copper scrap prices in India varied, with most copper scrap prices rising and a few experiencing slight declines. Prices fluctuated throughout the week. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 4), No.1 Copper and No.2 Copper rebounded after a sharp drop the previous week, while other copper scrap prices continued to decline, with decreases ranging from 0.64% to 4.71%.
The largest increase this week was observed in No.2 Copper, which rose from 484 INR/kg (April 7) to 522 INR/kg (April 11), with a gain of 7.85%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 4), Brass Hunny Scrap experienced the largest decline, falling from 595 INR/kg (April 4) to 562 INR/kg (April 10), then recovering slightly to 567 INR/kg (April 11), with a decrease of 4.71%.

India - Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in India varied, with No.1 Aluminum and No.2 Aluminum seeing slight increases, while other aluminum scrap prices declined, with decreases ranging from 0.51% to 1.72%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 4), similar trends were observed, but with more significant declines.
No.2 Aluminum saw a continuous increase, rising from 171.4 INR/kg (April 7) to 173 INR/kg (April 11), with a gain of 0.93%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 4), Aluminum Wire Scrap experienced the largest decline, falling from 236 INR/kg (April 4) to 228 INR/kg (April 11), a decrease of 3.39%.

United Kingdom - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), copper scrap prices in the UK generally showed a downward trend, with significant fluctuations throughout the week, including a sharp drop on April 8, where prices fell by as much as 8.05%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 4), the trends remained similar.
The largest decline this week was seen in Braziery/Copper Cylinders, which fell from 4.35 GBP/kg (April 7) to 4 GBP/kg (April 8), then rebounded to 4.3 GBP/kg (April 11), with a weekly decrease of 1.15%.
The second-largest decrease was in Heavy Copper, which fell from 5.35 GBP/kg (April 7) to 5 GBP/kg (April 8), then rebounded to 5.3 GBP/kg (April 11), with a weekly decline of 0.93%.

United States - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), copper scrap prices in the US saw significant declines across most grades, except for Brass, which saw a slight increase. The largest drop occurred on April 8, with a daily decrease of 7.27%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 4), the trends remained similar.
The largest decline this week was observed in Sheet Copper, which fell from 2.75 USD/Lb (April 7) to 2.55 USD/Lb (April 11), marking a decrease of 7.27%.
Brass prices saw a slight increase, rising from 2 USD/Lb (April 7) to 2.01 USD/Lb (April 11), with a gain of 0.50%.

United States - Aluminum Scrap Prices
This week (April 7 to April 11, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in the US showed fluctuations, but overall, there was an upward trend, with increases ranging from 0.59% to 2.67%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 4), similar trends were observed.
The largest increase this week was in AL Sheet, which rose from 0.75 USD/Lb (April 7) to 0.77 USD/Lb (April 11), with an increase of 2.67%.
The second-largest increase was observed in Cast Alum, which rose from 0.75 USD/Lb (April 7) to 0.76 USD/Lb (April 11), with an increase of 1.33%.
