SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: March 10-14, 2025

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of  Scrap Copper and Scrap Aluminum in the four countries. 

China - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap copper prices in China have shown a consistent upward trend, with a slight decrease on March 11, followed by steady increases, with the price rise ranging from 1.39% to 1.88%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), there has been a steady increase for two consecutive weeks, with the price rise ranging from 1.29% to 1.73%. 

The Motor Copper saw the largest price increase this week, rising from 69,150 CNY/MT (March 10) to 70,450 CNY/MT (March 14), an increase of 1,300 CNY/MT, which represents a 1.88% rise. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), Motor Copper saw the largest price increase of 1.73%, followed by Fire Line, with a price rise of 1.72%.

China - Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in China experienced slight fluctuations, but overall showed a moderate increase. Prices dipped slightly on March 11 before recovering, with price changes ranging from 0% to 0.86%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), there has been a slight increase, with price rises ranging from 0% to 0.63%. 

The price of 6 Series Aluminum Chips remained stable, while Iron Free Mechanical Aluminum experienced the largest increase, rising from 17,400 CNY/MT (March 10) to 17,550 CNY/MT (March 14), an increase of 150 CNY/MT, or 0.86%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), 6 Series Aluminum Chips remained stable for two consecutive weeks, with Packing Cans showing the largest price increase, rising by 0.63%.

India - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap copper prices in India generally showed an upward trend, with price increases ranging from 0.36% to 1.44%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), the price increase was more significant, ranging from 0.51% to 2.47%, with two consecutive weeks of price increases. 

Brass saw the largest price increase this week, rising from 470.25 INR/kg (March 10) to 477 INR/kg (March 14), an increase of 6.75 INR/kg, or 1.44%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), Brass saw the largest price increase of 2.47%, followed by Brass Hunny Scrap, with a rise of 2.45%.

India - Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in India remained largely stable, with some fluctuations in specific materials. The largest price increase was 1.08%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), the trend was similar, with the largest price increase being 1.62%, though the overall price increase was less significant than the previous week. 

Aluminium Accessories Scrap saw the largest price increase this week, rising from 186 INR/kg (March 10) to 188 INR/kg (March 14), an increase of 2 INR/kg, or 1.08%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), Aluminium Accessories Scrap saw the largest price increase for two consecutive weeks, with a rise of 1.62%, followed by Aluminium Wire Scrap, which increased by 1.23%.

United Kingdom - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap copper prices in the United Kingdom generally showed a mild upward trend. On March 13, all copper scrap prices increased, and then remained stable. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), the price trend was identical to that of this week. 

Brass saw the largest price increase this week, rising from 3.2 GBP/kg (March 10) to 3.3 GBP/kg (March 14), an increase of 0.1 GBP/kg, or 3.12%. 

Next was Braziery/Copper Cylinders, which rose from 4.6 GBP/kg (March 10) to 4.7 GBP/kg (March 14), an increase of 0.1 GBP/kg, or 2.17%.

United States - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap copper prices in the United States showed slight fluctuations, with a minor increase on March 12, followed by a drop on March 13. Overall, the prices remained stable. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), the prices remained unchanged. 

Copper No.1 saw relatively large fluctuations, rising from 4.10 USD/Lb (March 11) to 4.12 USD/Lb (March 12), and then dropping back to 4.10 USD/Lb (March 13), with a fluctuation rate of 0.49%. Brass followed a similar trend, with a fluctuation rate of 0.44%.

United States - Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (March 10 to March 14, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in the United States showed mixed trends, with AL Sheet and Cast Alum experiencing significant price increases, while AL Extrusion and Aluminum Wire saw substantial declines, and Aluminum Copper Unit prices remained stable. Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), the trend mirrored that of this week. 

Cast Alum saw the largest price increase this week, rising from 0.55 USD/Lb (March 10) to 0.65 USD/Lb (March 14), an increase of 18.18%. AL Extrusion and Aluminum Wire both saw significant drops, with prices plunging on March 13, with a drop of 13.58% and 27.63% respectively on that day. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: March 7), AL Sheet and Cast Alum saw two consecutive weeks of price increases, rising by 10.91% and 18.18% respectively. AL Extrusion showed considerable volatility, with a large increase last week followed by a large decrease this week, showing an overall decrease of 12.50%.
