SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: March 3-7, 2025

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries. 

China - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap copper prices in China generally rose, showing a steady upward trend with an increase ranging from 1.00% to 1.5%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), the increase was more pronounced, ranging from 1.20% to 1.80%. 

This week, Copper (Cu≈98%) saw the largest increase, rising from 69,800 CNY/MT (March 3) to 70,850 CNY/MT (March 7), a rise of 1,050 CNY/MT, or 1.5%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), Copper (Cu≈98%) experienced the largest increase, at 1.80%, followed by Bright Copper Wire, which rose by 1.77%.

China - Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in China generally exhibited an upward trend, except 6 Series Aluminum Chips, which remained stable. Other scrap materials increased by between 0.63% and 1.18%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), the increase was more significant, with other materials increasing by 0.63% to 1.3%, while 6 Series Aluminum Chips remained unchanged. 

This week, Raw Aluminum saw the largest increase, rising from 16,900 CNY/MT (March 3) to 17,100 CNY/MT (March 7), an increase of 200 CNY/MT, or 1.18%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), Iron Free Mechanical Aluminum saw the largest increase, rising from 17,250 CNY/MT (February 28) to 17,475 CNY/MT (March 7), an increase of 225 CNY/MT, or 1.30%.

India - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap copper prices in India maintained a steady upward trend, with increases ranging from 0.53% to 2.07%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), the increase was more pronounced, ranging from 0.55% to 2.07%. 

This week, Brass Sheet Cutting saw the largest increase, rising from 580 INR/kg (March 3) to 592 INR/kg (March 7), an increase of 12 INR/kg, or 2.07%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), Brass Sheet Cutting experienced the largest increase, at 2.07%, followed by No.1 Copper, which increased by 1.75%.

India - Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in India generally increased, showing a steady upward trend, with increases ranging from 1.17% to 2.78%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), the upward trend continued, with No.2 Aluminum showing the greatest increase, while other materials saw similar changes to this week. 

This week, Aluminium Accessories Scrap saw the largest increase, rising from 180 INR/kg (March 3) to 185 INR/kg (March 7), an increase of 5 INR/kg, or 2.78%. 

Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), Aluminium Accessories Scrap saw the largest increase, at 2.78%, followed by No.2 Aluminum, which rose by 2.35%.

United Kingdom - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap copper prices in the United Kingdom showed an overall downward trend, with the exception of Brass prices, which remained unchanged. Other scrap materials decreased by between 0.82% and 2.13%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), the trend remained the same, with declines ranging from 0.82% to 2.13%. 

This week, Braziery/Copper Cylinders saw the largest decrease, falling from 4.7 GBP/kg (March 3) to 4.6 GBP/kg (March 4), and maintaining at 4.6 GBP/kg until March 7, with an overall decrease of 0.1 GBP/kg, or 2.13%. 

Next, Heavy Copper dropped from 5.7 GBP/kg (March 3) to 5.6 GBP/kg (March 4), then remained stable, with an overall decrease of 0.1 GBP/kg, or 1.75%.

United States - Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap copper prices in the United States generally increased, with significant rises ranging from 2.27% to 6.35%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), except for Brass, which saw a smaller increase of 1.81%, other scrap materials exhibited the same upward trend as this week. 

This week, Sheet Copper saw the largest increase, rising from 3.15 USD/Lb (March 3) to 3.35 USD/Lb (March 7), an increase of 0.2 USD/Lb, or 6.35%. 

Brass saw the smallest increase, rising from 2.2 USD/Lb (March 3) to 2.25 USD/Lb (March 7), an increase of 0.05 USD/Lb, or 2.27%.

United States - Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (March 3 to March 7, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in the United States generally showed an upward trend, with significant increases, especially in AL Extrusion, which saw a rise of 12.68%, while Aluminum Copper Unit experienced a smaller increase of 0.59%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: February 28), the increases were larger, with other materials rising by 10% to 17.65%, excluding Aluminum Copper Unit, which remained stable. 

This week, AL Extrusion saw a remarkable increase, rising from 0.71 USD/Lb (March 3) to 0.8 USD/Lb (March 7), an increase of 0.09 USD/Lb, or 12.68%. 

Next, AL Sheet and Cast Alum both rose from 0.52 USD/Lb (March 3) to 0.55 USD/Lb (March 7), increasing by 0.03 USD/Lb, or 5.77%.
